Welcome Message
Welcome to the International Office at Pusan National University.
Education is the future of a nation and its society. It is a light that will guide our next generation. It was education that enabled South Korea to break free from the shackles of poverty and leap onto the center of the global stage as a developed nation.
Pusan National University carried on its shoulders the hope of the Korean people aspiring to become an educationally advanced nation and has reached its current position with dedicated support from the central and local governments. Now as the leading public university in South Korea, we are broadening our perspective to educating not only students in South Korea, but students from all over the world.
Commensurate with this new vision of Pusan National University, the International Office is dedicated to sharing the high-quality educational contents and facilities of our university with young people across the globe to develop aspiring young minds who can meet our greatest challenges in the future.
In addition to refining and broadening our undergraduate education, study abroad programs, student exchange programs, summer schools, and foreign language education that cater to the needs of our students, we will invite students from leading universities across the globe through various exchange systems, making our university a truly international campus.
To enhance graduate studies and research, we will support our students learn, develop, and share the latest knowledge in their respective field at the global stage, while also offering more opportunities for outstanding international students who are interested in joining our graduate programs.
Additionally, the International Office is pleased to introduce the Department of Global Interdisciplinary Studies (GIS). At GIS, international students can enroll declaring an open major. After completing the required core coursework in the first year, students can design their own coursework that meets their own interests and goals.
Specifically, first-year students in the GIS will enroll in intensive Korean language courses, as fluency in the Korean language is important for students to work and live in Korea upon graduation. Students who are interested in STEM, business, or economics will be able to take classes in mathematics, statistics, and sciences in Korean or English. Students who are interested in languages and literature or history will be able to take classes in those areas. Students who complete the required core coursework in the first year will progress to the second year, which will offer micro-degree programs in a variety of disciplines that students can take to design their own major.
The International Office at Pusan National University is dedicated to helping our students excel in their studies both domestically and internationally, while ensuring that international students on our campus receive the support and care that they need during their time here.
